Health and Safety for Fowey Marine Adventures
Licensing
As required by law, our Vessel is licensed by the Marine Coastguard Agency (MCA). The Vessel is surveyed annually. Vessels are insured for the conveyance of passengers and carry the appropriate third party liability cover. Our insurers are
Knighthood Corporate Assurance services plc.
All our skippers are licensed and fully trained and have a full understanding of our operations. In addition to maritime and academic qualifications skippers and crews have sea-medic, first-aid qualifications.
Health and Safety
Fowey Marine Adventures operates its own health and safety policy, which is intended to be complimentary to those requirements laid down by the licensing authorities. All Vessels are equipped with life rafts, and full safety and fire fighting equipment in excess of DTI requirements. Basic First Aid equipment is also carried. Life jackets are supplied and worn by all passengers and crew, when on board the vessel. Vessels are equipped with two-way radio equipment and contact is maintained with the office and shore personnel.
Medical conditions: All boats can experience unpredictable movements that can aggravate existing medical conditions. You must inform us of such conditions, especially back/bone conditions and pregnancy. We will advise you as best we can but as we are not medical experts the decision as to whether to sail will be entirely your own.
Boarding
Please turn up in good time to board the vessel. We employ a dedicated boarding master to aid your embarkation. Care must be taken when boarding the vessels, following the instructions of the crew and shore staff at all times. Take notice of informed safety procedures. Please do not move around unless directed by the crew. The skipper has the right to refuse boarding for any reason.
Clothing
Please dress appropriately; take warm clothing at any time of year, as it is often cooler at sea. A waterproof jacket is advisable. Cameras and hand luggage etc are welcome but are carried at your own risk. Do not leave valuables in your back pocket as they have a habit of falling over the side. If you need to bring specialist equipment then please contact us before hand.
Cancellations
Cancellation by us: If we cancel or delay the sailing, and cannot accommodate you on a rescheduled trip then we will offer you a full refund. If we have to cancel due to weather or for logistical reasons then we will offer a 100% refund. This does happen from time to time so please bear with us - the sea is highly unpredictable! The decision as to whether the trip goes ahead is at our discretion, please note that we would normally continue sailing if it was misty or raining. We do recommend that you contact us by telephone or in person on the morning of departure to check weather conditions etc. If you have any doubts or concerns please contact the office and we will advise you accordingly.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL OR DELAY AND RESCHEDULE TRIPS WITHOUT WARNING FOR LOGISTICAL OR COMMERCIAL REASONS
Cancellation by you: If you fail to turn up or cancel within 24 hours of the departure time and the trip goes ahead, then we will debit the full amount from the card information supplied to us. If you book and do not attend we will invoice you for the Voyage. If you cancel for any reason refunds are at our discretion but as a guide: 24 hours or more notice - 75% refund. Less than 24 hours notice - No refund.
